Special Shout Out to Lincoln

(Lincoln with Papa)

We made it to Minnesota last week and have been living out of a hotel for the last couple of days. We have adjusted to hotel living with great ease. Lincoln enjoys the elevator, the doorman who gives treats and all of the wonderful things to smell in a big city. I, Minnie Moo am struggling with the various noises and becoming possessive over elevator space. I have to face the back of the elevator so I will not growl under my breath at other people who may need to also ride in the elevator.

Grandma found this and thinks it is the best description of Lincoln and probably many other furry friends. Today he gets a special shout out since he hasn't melted since we left, with the big airplane ride, the rental car, the hotel living and the big city with little grass.

"He is my other eyes that can see above the clouds; my other ears that hear above the winds. He is the part of me that can reach out into the sea. He has told me a thousand times over that I am his reason for being; by the way he rests against my leg; by the way he thumps his tail at my smallest smile; by the way he shows his hurt when I leave without taking him. (I think it makes him sick with worry when he is not along to care for me.) When I am wrong, he is delighted to forgive. When I am angry, he clowns to make me smile. When I am happy, he is joy unbounded. When I am a fool, he ignores it. When I succeed, he brags. Without him, I am only another human. With him, I am all-powerful. He is loyalty itself. He has taught me the meaning of devotion. With him, I know a secret comfort and a private peace. He has brought me understanding where before I was ignorant. His head on my knee can heal my human hurts. His presence by my side is protection against my fears of dark and unknown things. He has promised to wait for me... whenever... wherever - in case I need him. And I expect I will - as I always have. He is just my dog."

  5. Wowsers, what a nice post about Linc. Applause for the guy! Maybe he was a city pup back in the day. I feel for Minnie. New stuff is hard on some of us. My cuz Bosco has a little trouble with getting growly if someone walks near our car while we are inside (even if they are all the way across the parking lot).

  6. What a sweet paragraph. If it were about us, there would have to be some mention of pottying in the house, eating inappropriate things (you too!) and voracious appetites.
Glad you are enjoying Minnesota. Heard it's pretty hot up there. Hope you don't have to stay for winter though.

  7. AWE!! Grandpa's found the perfect saying! Where's my Kleenex?

Glad you all made it safely. Hope Minnie does better in the elevator. I like elevator rides myself.

Don't forget to order lots of room service.

    Hugs,

  12. Glad to hear you all made it safely to Minnesota. I love staying in hotels. There's lot of new things to sniff and also the bed is way bigger than the one at home so I can sneak up in there after my parents have fallen asleep and they don't even notice (shhhh don't tell them!) -Love, Sid.
